Louis ‘Thomas’ Hunkler, 84 died November 28th, 2018 peacefully at home in Ft. Wayne, IN after his lengthy battle with kidney cancer. Thomas was born October 12, 1934 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Louis and Mildred Hunkler. Thomas was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was an engineer at ITT for 40 years working on missile guidance, military night vision, aerospace sensors, radio communication and weather satellites. His hobby was to fix and repair almost anything and everything. He was an avid music listener. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Donna Jean; sons, Thomas(Cynthia) Hunkler of Ft. Wayne IN, Timothy(Shelby)Hunkler of Gilbert AZ, Michael(Melinda) Hunkler of Nashville TN, Mark(Ronda) Hunkler of Garret IN, Patrick Hunkler of Charleston SC, and Philip (Sherry) Hunkler of Charlotte NC; 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother William Hunkler(Cecily) of Gilbert AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00pm Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave, Ft. Wayne. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery Ft. Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church roof fund or Visiting Nurse Hospice.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Hunkler family. Take comfort in knowing he is in no pain and his journey is over and he had a full life. He will always be remembered by the stories told by the Hunkler family. At the end of this journey, we are left with the memories. Ted & Betty Cochran
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jeanne, Tom, Tim, Mike, Mark, Patrick and Philip. My parents are Wilbur and Maxine Knipstein, your neighbors on South Anthony. I was saddened to hear of Tom\’s passing and pray God blesses all of you with comfort in the hope of the resurrection.
I had the pleasure of being Tom and Jeans neighbor for the past 5 years. Tom was and is a “Good Man” by any standard. He lived a good life. I share the my sorrow with the news of his passing with the Hunkler Family. Mike Hughes.
